WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON

***     TUESDAY 25TH JUNE 2024   ***

when we welcome:    Peggy Seeger   'In Conversation'     to Dartford Folk Club

"Seeger's greatest asset is her uncanny ability to dissolve the gap between artist and audience."   (The Irish Times)
"From the moment she stepped on stage, Peggy held every person in that packed auditorium spellbound "   (Tradition Magazine)

Peggy Seeger is totally unique. Sister of Pete Seeger (the great-grandfather of USA folk revival) and partner of the late Ewan MacColl,
theorist and practitioner of UK folk revival), she has carved a special niche for herself in both these countries.
Trained in both classical and folk music, her experience spans 55 years of performing, travel and songwriting. She'll sing an unaccompanied traditional ballad,
follow it with a tall tale about a circus high-diver, then launch into a topical song about drugs, war, hormones, politicians, unions, women, love or ecology.
A multi-instrumentalist (piano, guitar, 5-string banjo, autoharp, English concertina and Appalachian dulcimer), she is probably best known for her feminist songs.

Born in 1935, Peggy regards herself as "seasoned and in my prime". She has made 23 solo recordings and has participated in over a hundred recordings
with other artists. A native North American, she made her home in England with MacColl for 35 years, went back to the USA for 16 years,
but has returned permanently to England where she regards as Home.

Her concerts are informative, entertaining and skilful, full of sly humour. Audience participation in choruses is routine.

Doors Open at 7.15pm with the evening starting at 8pm.
NO RESERVED SEATING! Please do come early if you are planning to sit with a large group of friends.

PAM & ALAN COLLS

Founders of the Dartford Folk Club, Pam and Alan Colls ran the Club together for over 40 years, booking an amazing variety of artists within the Folk genre.
Sadly both Pam and Alan have passed away but, at our 50th Birthday celebrations in October 2023, the team, guests and audience raised a glass
to remember their friendship, achievements and amazing contributions to the music world.

The Dartford Folk Club is now managed by a small team of original members in memory of and as a legacy to Pam & Alan's love for music.
