** STAY SAFE ** 'HANDS FACE SPACE' ** STAY SAFE ** WE ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ON *** TUESDAY 30TH JULY 2024 *** when we welcome: Gilmore & Roberts to Dartford Folk Club Contemporary folk/acoustic duo Gilmore & Roberts combine award-winning songwriting with astounding musicianship and their trademark harmonies to create a powerful wall of sound. Nominated three times at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, Katriona Gilmore (fiddle, mandolin) and Jamie Roberts (guitar) met while studying at Leeds College of Music and released their debut album in 2008. Since then, the duo has toured Canada and mainland Europe, played some of the UK's biggest acoustic festivals, toured with folk rock legends Fairport Convention and won countless accolades for their genre-spanning work. Documenting Snapshots is their sixth album and their first since 2018's A Problem Of Our Kind. 'So much has changed since our last album,' says Katriona. 'It feels like a different landscape altogether.' Jamie adds, 'The music industry is still feeling the fallout of the pandemic and on a more personal level we now have two young children, so making this record had to fit around our lives rather than the other way round.' Recorded at home over a period of more than a year, Documenting Snapshots really lives up to its name - a snapshot to document the duo's lives at this moment in time. It contains some of Gilmore & Roberts' most emotionally charged material yet, from personal experiences of parenthood, grief and family legacy, to historical stories of solidarity and unlikely connections. PAM & ALAN COLLS
Founders of the Dartford Folk Club, Pam and Alan Colls ran the Club together for over 40 years, booking an amazing variety of artists within the Folk genre. Sadly both Pam and Alan have passed away but, at our 50th Birthday celebrations in October 2023, the team, guests and audience raised a glass to remember their friendship, achievements and amazing contributions to the music world. The Dartford Folk Club is now managed by a small team of original members in memory of and as a legacy to Pam & Alan's love for music.
